Trump Is Not Lying To Us

The statements Trump makes are not lies, at least not by his definition.  He is telling his audience what he thinks they want to hear in order to like him.  He believes that is the reason for saying things to people.  It is to get them to like you and to thus to do the things you suggest.  Communication is not a tool for spreading ideas or sharing information; communication is a tool for persuasion.  Once you understand that, you understand Donald Trump.
