Getting a group of free-thinkers to act together is like herding cats!

Getting a group of free-thinkers to act together is like herding cats.  It is difficult to get all the atheists and agnostics together on a Sunday morning to build a sense of community.  What is it about free-thinkers that prevents them from organizing?

Perhaps a better question is, “What is it about the non-free-thinkers that causes them to want to organize?”.  If you shout out to all the atheists to come form a picket line outside the court house that displays a Bible, not many will show up.  But if you shout out to the christians to come form a picket line outside the planned parenthood clinic to show your displeasure with condoms, they get a rousing turnout.

My opinion, is that free-thinkers don’t have the herd mentality; but religious people do.  Religious people are raised to not think for themselves, and to question any source of information that does not come from the pulpit.  They are expected to never question what their preacher says.  Just follow the herd.  We will tell you what to do.

It won’t be easy for free-thinkers to win their battles when they are up against the herd-behaviour crowd.
